Middle East Capitals Quiz

15 capitals. We name a capital, you click its country on the map. Three tries each.

How to play

Press Start. The name of a capital city shows at the top of the map: click the country it belongs to. Right on the first try turns the country green; right after a miss turns it amber; after three misses it turns red and the quiz moves on. A wrong click shows the name of the country you clicked. To test just the capitals, point at a country to see its name, or tick Show country names to write the names on the map (zoom in for the small ones). A run with names shown says so on the result card and keeps its own best time. The smallest countries have a circle: click inside it. When you finish, practice just the capitals you missed, or learn the countries first in the Middle East map quiz.

Questions

How many capitals are in this quiz?

15, one for each country the quiz asks.

Which Middle East capitals do people get wrong?

Ankara (not Istanbul) in Turkey, Abu Dhabi (not Dubai) in the United Arab Emirates and Riyadh (not Jeddah) in Saudi Arabia. Egypt is moving its government to a new city east of Cairo; Cairo is still listed here.

Why are Israel and Palestine grey?

Both claim Jerusalem as their capital and most countries do not settle the question, so this quiz leaves them out. They are asked in the Middle East map quiz.

How is the score worked out?

Your score is the share of capitals you placed on the first try. A capital you place on the second or third try turns its country amber and does not count toward the score; after three misses the country turns red and the quiz moves on.

Can my class use this?
