Questions

How many countries are in this quiz?

198: the 193 member states of the United Nations, plus Vatican City, Kosovo, Taiwan, Palestine and Western Sahara. Territories such as Greenland, Puerto Rico and French Guiana are drawn grey and not asked; the continent quizzes ask some of them.

Why are some disputed places in the quiz?

The quiz asks where places are on the map, not whether every country recognises them. Kosovo, Taiwan, Palestine and Western Sahara are on most classroom maps, so they are asked like any other place.

Is the world quiz hard on a phone?

It is a lot of countries on a small screen. Zoom in with the + button and drag the map, or start with one continent: each has its own quiz.

How is the score worked out?

Your score is the share of places you found on the first try. A place you find on the second or third try turns amber and does not count toward the score; after three misses it turns red and the quiz moves on.

Can my class use this?

Yes, free, with no sign-up and no ads. At the end, students type their name and take a screenshot of the result card (map, score, time and date) to hand in.
