How to use it

As morning work

Two boxes a day, Monday to Thursday, about ten minutes a day. Go over the answers together on Friday.

As homework or a weekly check

The front one night and the back the next, or the whole sheet in one sitting of 20 to 30 minutes.

At home

Let your child work alone first. A box they cannot do tells you what to go back over.

The eight boxes on every sheet

Four on the front and four on the back, in the same places every week, so students know what to do without being told.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is math morning work?
A short set of math problems students start on as soon as they sit down, before the lesson. Here it is one two-sided sheet a week with eight boxes: two boxes a day from Monday to Thursday, about ten minutes a day, and the answers gone over together on Friday.
What is spiral review?
Practice that keeps coming back to skills taught earlier in the year, so they are not learned once and forgotten. On each sheet one box practices that week's new topic and the other seven bring back earlier ones. The spiral boxes only use skills from earlier weeks of the plan.
What order do the 36 weeks follow?
The order most U.S. math programs teach 3rd grade, which is the sequence used by enVision and Go Math. If your program teaches a topic at a different time, the year plan shows which week matches it.
Is it matched to the Common Core standards?
Yes. The year plan names the Common Core standard that each week's focus box practices. The last week of the year is "Ready for 4th grade: 2-digit by 1-digit multiplication".
Is there an answer key?
Yes. Every week has a two-page answer key in the same layout as the sheet. The free PDF has the keys for weeks 1 to 4, and the full pack has all 36. Every answer was solved a second time and checked against the key.
What is in the free PDF?
The year plan, the two-sided sheets for weeks 1 to 4 and their answer keys, 17 pages in all. It downloads straight away, with no sign-up.
What do I get when I buy the full pack?
One PDF of 148 pages: a cover, a how-to page, the year at a glance, a student tracker, 36 two-sided weekly sheets and 36 two-page answer keys. It is a one-time purchase with an instant download, and the download link is also emailed to you.
Can I use it with my whole class?
Yes. The pack is for one classroom or one family, and you may print as many copies as your own students need. Please do not post the file online or pass it on.
Can I use it at home?
Yes. Homeschool families use it as a daily warm-up, and parents use it to keep skills fresh during the year or over the summer. Let your child work alone first. A box they cannot do tells you what to go back over.
