1st Grade December and Christmas Worksheets
Math, reading and writing sheets for December in a winter and Christmas theme: snowmen, sleds, gifts, candy canes and a tree. Print-and-go, black and white, with answer keys. 8 sheets are free, and the full packet of 40 is $5.
What is in the December packet
The packet has 16 math sheets, 16 reading sheets and 8 writing and fun sheets. The math is adding and subtracting within 20, fact families, number bonds, missing numbers, tens and ones, comparing two-digit numbers, counting to 120, skip counting, ten more and ten less, time to the hour and half hour, a tally chart, story problems, halves and fourths, and measuring with a row of bells.
The reading is silent e words, blends, sound boxes, rhymes, sight words, three short texts with questions (a story about a snowman, facts about reindeer and facts about snow), sentences to build and to match, ABC order and sorting nouns. The writing sheets are fix the sentence, a how-to, a gift to give, a snowman to dress and a tree to decorate and write about, with a snowman to label, a Christmas word search and a spot-the-changes picture.
What level it is
Skills are set for the fourth month of first grade. The words a child reads alone are short-vowel words with blends, silent e words such as cane, pine and skate, and common sight words. Math facts stay within 20.
How to use it
Every sheet stands on its own, so use them in any order: morning work, a center, a sub folder, homework or a quiet half hour over the winter break. A few are cut-and-glue sheets, which need scissors and a glue stick.
Every sheet has December pictures: snowmen, mittens, sleds, candy canes, gingerbread men, gifts, bells, reindeer and a tree. There is no Santa and nothing religious. For more practice on one skill, see the 1st grade math worksheets, the phonics worksheets, the sight word worksheets and the 1st grade reading passages. Younger children can start with the kindergarten December worksheets.
