Summer Reading Log
A log for the months when nobody is assigning reading: set a goal, list each book you finish, and say whether you would recommend it.

A log for the months when nobody is assigning reading: set a goal, list each book you finish, and say whether you would recommend it.

A goal line at the top (I will read ____ books this summer), then 18 numbered rows for title, author, date finished, a yes or no Recommend? box, and a five-star rating. A lined box at the bottom asks for the best book of the summer.
Send it home on the last day of school or tape it inside a library bag. The focus is on books finished, not minutes, which suits summer better than a nightly log. The recommend column gives kids an opinion to share when school starts again.
Many public libraries run summer reading programs with their own logs. This one works alongside them or on its own. For younger children, the color-in bookshelf tracker does the same job without any writing.
