Kindergarten September Worksheets
Math, reading and fine-motor sheets for the first month of kindergarten, with apples and back-to-school pictures. Print-and-go, black and white, with one short direction to read aloud. 8 sheets are free, and the full packet of 40 is $5.
What is in the September packet
The packet has 16 math sheets, 16 reading sheets and 8 fine-motor and fun sheets. The math is counting to 10, zero, ten frames, before and after, writing the numbers 1 to 10, more and fewer, putting two groups together, patterns, a first graph, big and small, same and different, and the position words above, below and between.
Skills are set for the first month of kindergarten, so letters and sounds come first: tracing and finding letters, matching big and small letters, telling letters from numbers, first and last sounds, rhyming, clapping syllables and sound boxes. The first sight words are I, a and see, and the first short words are cat, hat and map, each with a picture.
How to use it
Every sheet stands on its own, so use them in any order: morning work, a center, a sub folder, homework or a quiet half hour at home. Each has one direction for an adult to read aloud. A few are cut-and-glue sheets, so have scissors and a glue stick ready.
Every sheet has September pictures: apples and apple trees, crayons, pencils, a backpack, a lunchbox, the school bus and the playground. For more practice on one skill, see the kindergarten math worksheets, the position words worksheets, the sight word worksheets and the October packet.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do the sheets print in black and white?
Yes. Every sheet is black and white line art. Coloring is something the child does. No sheet needs a color printer to be read.
Is there an answer key?
Yes, for every sheet that has one right answer. Each free PDF has its key on page 2. The packet has all the keys at the back, four to a page.
What do I get when I buy the packet?
One print-ready PDF with all 40 sheets, a contents page and the answer keys. The download link comes right after checkout and by email.
Is it for the very start of kindergarten?
Yes. It starts with letters, sounds and counting to 10, and only a few sheets ask a child to read a word, always with a picture beside it. The October packet picks up where it ends.
Can I use it with a whole class?
Yes. You may print and copy the pages for your own classroom or your own children.
