The packet has 16 math sheets, 16 reading sheets and 8 writing and fun sheets. The math is the first month of 1st grade: counting and writing numbers to 20, adding within 10, subtracting within 10, and number bonds and fact families to 10, with ten frame adding, number line take-away, color by sum, story problems, counting on, comparing and a picture graph to keep them going.
The reading is short vowels with ff, ll, ss and zz, then sh, ch and th, ck, wh, ng and nk, and the first blends (flag, stamp): words to read, spell, cut and glue, three short stories, two pages to read and draw, a sentence to build and the month's heart words to map. The writing sheets are fix the sentence, person, place or thing, All About Me, a how-to, a backpack to decorate, school things to label, the first day of school and a spot-the-changes picture.
The sheets follow the September weeks of our 1st grade plan, the start of the year. The stories use only the spellings taught by then and the first heart words, so a child can read them without guessing. Facts stay within 10 and are shown on ten frames and number lines.
Every sheet stands on its own, so use them in any order: morning work, a center, a sub folder or homework in the first weeks of school. A few are cut-and-glue sheets, which need scissors and a glue stick.
