Shelly's Lake Ride

Silent E — Mixed 1st Grade Long Vowels & Silent E
Shelly's Lake Ride

Shelly wanted to fly her huge kite. She hopped on her bike for a fast ride to the lake. Her cute dog, Gus, ran by her side.

When they got to the lake, Shelly set up the kite. But Gus did not look at it. He put his wet nose in the grass.

Gus ran off to hide in the brush. Shelly let the kite drop. She went on a quick hike up the hill to find him.

"I hope he did not go far," she said. She hummed a little tune to call him.

Gus ran back to Shelly. He had an old bone in his teeth!

Shelly had to smile. "You win," she said. They packed up the kite and went home.
