Kate's Huge Kite

Silent E — Mixed 1st Grade Long Vowels & Silent E
Kate's Huge Kite

Kate had a huge kite. It was red and blue. She wanted to make it fly. "I hope it will go up today," Kate said. She got on her bike for a fast ride to the lake. Her cute dog, Dot, ran by her side.

At the lake, Kate set up the kite on the sand. But Dot thought it was a fun game. Dot ran up and grabbed it with her teeth. "No, Dot!" yelled Kate. "Drop it! That is not a bone!" Dot let go and ran away to hide in the tall grass.

Kate fixed the kite. A big gust came by. She let the kite go. It flew up, up, up! "Look at it ride!"
