Luke's Huge Hike

Silent E — Mixed 1st Grade Long Vowels & Silent E
Luke's Huge Hike

Luke made a note at home. It said, "I hope to take a hike to the lake." Luke called his cute dog, Gus. But Gus did not want a hike. He wanted to play a game. Gus grabbed a huge bone. Then he ran to hide.

"Gus, where are you?" Luke said. Luke looked all over the place. He checked by the gate. He checked past the bike. Then Luke saw a black nose poke out from a big box.

"I see you!" Luke yelled with a smile. Gus trotted out. He dropped his huge bone. "Can we go to the lake now?" Luke asked. Gus gave a glad wag. He was set for a fun ride and a long hike.
