Pete's New Flute

Silent E — Long U 1st Grade Long Vowels & Silent E
Pete's New Flute

Pete wanted to play a fine tune. He went to get his flute. But the flute had a big crack in it. Pete tried to play it, but the flute was mute. "My flute broke," Pete said.

Pete had a plan. He ran to a huge box of stuff. He dug and found a long green tube.

His pal Kate came up to him. "What is that?" Kate asked.

"It is a new flute," Pete said. "I hope it can play a pure tune."

Pete tried to play the tube. A big hum came out of it!

"That is a huge hum," Kate said with a grin. It was just a tube, but Pete still had fun.
