Sight Word Readers

Sight Word Readers for Kindergarten

Start here. Use with Level 1.

One little picture book for each sight word, in the order kindergarten teaches them. Every word in a book is a sight word your child has learned or a short word they can sound out, so they read it themselves, not guess from the picture.

These sight word readers are emergent readers with a difference: the words that change on each page are short words a child can sound out (bug, mud, box), not words to guess from the picture. Each book teaches one high-frequency word and uses only the sight words taught before it, so a kindergartener reads every word. Print the four sheets, cut each in half and staple to make a real little book. A read-aloud version for projecting comes with every book.

Use them alongside Level 1 decodable readers and the sight word worksheets, which teach the same words in the same order.
