The packet has 16 math sheets, 16 reading sheets and 8 writing and fun sheets. The math is January in a 1st grade year: tens and ones, a mid-year review of adding and subtracting, comparing two-digit numbers and ten more and ten less, with facts within 20, missing numbers, number bonds, color by sum, story problems, skip counting and a picture graph to keep them going.
The reading is y as a vowel (fly, funny), all, walk and wash, ai and ay (rain, tray) and ee and ea (sheep, seal): words to match, read and spell, four short stories and facts about penguins, a sentence to build and the month's heart words to map. The writing sheets are fix the sentence, nouns, verbs and adjectives, a New Year wish, a how-to, a mitten to decorate, winter things to label, a would-you-rather and a spot-the-changes picture.
The sheets follow the January weeks of our 1st grade plan. The stories use only the spellings taught by then and the heart words of the year so far, so a child can read them without guessing. Math facts stay within 20, and the place value work stays within 100.
Every sheet stands on its own, so use them in any order: morning work, a center, a sub folder, homework or a snow day at home. A few are cut-and-glue sheets, which need scissors and a glue stick.
