About These Mixed Word Problems

On a sheet of only addition problems, kids learn quickly that every answer is "add the two numbers" and stop reading the story. These mixed worksheets put different operations side by side, so each problem starts with the real question: what is happening here, and what do I need to find? Kindergarten through grade 2 mix addition and subtraction (including missing numbers and comparing); grades 3 and 4 mix multiplication, division, and fraction stories; grade 5 mixes fractions, volume, and area.

Use them for review after each operation has been taught, for morning work, or as a quick check. Every worksheet includes an answer key. For single-operation practice, see the word problems by topic.
