Counting is the first math a child learns, and it is more than saying the numbers in order. A child who can count to ten out loud may still point at five apples and say "seven." These sheets practice the harder skill: touching each object once, saying one number for each, and knowing that the last number said is how many there are.
Each worksheet asks for that in a different way. Count and Write has the child count a group and write the numeral. Count and Circle takes the writing away, which helps children who know the answer but cannot form the numeral yet. Circle That Many runs the other direction: start from a numeral and count out that many. Count and Match pairs groups with numerals.
The 6 to 10 sheet arranges the pictures in rows of five. That is on purpose. A full row of five and two more is easier to count than seven scattered objects, and it prepares children for ten frames later.
The sheets are in color because the pictures are the point. Every worksheet has an answer key on its second page. When counting to ten is solid, the kindergarten math page has what comes next.
