The packet has 16 math sheets, 16 reading sheets and 8 writing and fun sheets. The math is October in a 1st grade year: word problems within 10, counting on to add, doubles and near doubles, and making ten, with ten frame adding, number line take-away, color by sum, fact families, comparing, counting to 100 and a picture graph to keep them going.
The reading is r blends (crab, drum), ending blends (tent, nest), three-letter blends (splash, spring) and tch and dge (watch, bridge): words to read, spell, cut and glue, three short stories, two pages to read and draw, a sentence to build and the month's heart words to map. The writing sheets are fix the sentence, telling or asking, my costume, a how-to, a jack-o'-lantern to design, fall things to label, a fall day and a spot-the-changes picture.
The sheets follow the October weeks of our 1st grade plan. The stories use only the spellings taught by then and the heart words of the year so far, so a child can read them without guessing. Facts stay within 10, apart from the doubles, and are shown on ten frames and number lines.
Every sheet stands on its own, so use them in any order: morning work, a center, a sub folder, homework or the week of Halloween. A few are cut-and-glue sheets, which need scissors and a glue stick.
