1 Decodable Reading Passage
A short, decodable story embedding vowel team — igh words. Students read the passage then highlight all the target words.
Seth went to camp on the big hill. He took his best pal, a dog named Gus. It was late at night. Seth set up a big green tent. He shut the flap up tight. Gus got on a plush mat to rest.
Then, Seth heard a quick snap out by the tent. He had a slight fright. What might it be? Was it a big red fox? Gus let out a huff. "I hope we do not have to fight," Seth whispered.
He got a bright light from his bag. He let the tent flap open just a bit. He held the light up high. It was just a small fox kit! It had stepped on a stick. Seth let out a sigh. "We are all right, Gus," he said.
