Tam and Jill stretched at the edge of the track. Tam had to run first with a stick. At the red flag, she had to pass it to Jill. Then Jill had to dash to the end.
The judge said, "Go!" Tam ran so fast! She did not stop at the flag. "Catch!" she said. But Jill could not catch the stick. It fell into a ditch.
Jill had to fetch it from the mud. "You ran too fast," she said. "I could not grab it."
Tam felt bad. "I will stop at the flag," she said. "I will hold the stick still for you."
They ran again. Tam stopped at the flag and held the stick out. Jill grabbed it and dashed to the end!
They each got a badge from the judge. "We did it!" said Jill. Tam grinned.
