Dave had a big job. His class had a fun program. Each child had to write a short biography about an older person they liked. Dave picked Mister Smith. Mister Smith went on a ship many years in the past and was wise about geography. First, Dave sat at his desk. He grabbed a pad of paper and a graphite pencil. He wrote the first paragraph of the biography. Grammar is hard, but Dave wanted to get it right. He used his graphite pencil to cross out a small mistake. He reread his paragraph to make sure it was perfect. "I need a good photograph of Mister Smith to put with my words," Dave thought. He loved photography, so he wanted to take a new one himself. A biography with a nice photograph is always better. Dave rode his bike to Mister Smith's house. Mister Smith was standing by a large oak tree in his garden. "Can I take your photograph for my class?" asked Dave. "I am writing your biography." Mister Smith smiled and nodded. "Yes, you can," he said. Dave set up his shot. He held his breath to keep still. A blur is bad in photography. Click! The photograph was clear and perfect. Next, Dave wanted to show all the places Mister Smith had visited. He sat on the grass and drew a big diagram of the sea. It showed geography notes and paths across the wide ocean. The graphic was big and bright, with a tall ship on the side. "This looks so good," said Mister Smith. "You did a fine job on the diagram." "I have one last thing to ask," said Dave. "Can I have your autograph? I want to put it at the end of the last paragraph." Mister Smith laughed. He took the graphite pencil and wrote his name in neat letters on the page. The biography was done, and Dave was very proud of his hard work.
