Wes had a dog, Gus. Gus ran in the ash and mud.

"I must wash you," said Wes.

Gus did not wish for a wash. He ran off in a rush. Gus hid in the shed. The shed door was shut. Wes had to push it open. Gus sat in the back.

Wes put a dish of ham by the shed. "Come and eat," said Wes.

Gus ran out to get the ham. Wes put him in the big tub. He let the mud gush off him.

"Now you are clean," said Wes.
