Jon and his mom had a choice. They could bake a cake or broil fish. "Let's bake a cake!" Jon yelled with a glad voice. Mom got the cake mix. She also gave Jon a slick new coin. "A coin in the cake will bring good luck," she said. Jon ran out with the mix and the coin. But he tripped and dropped the coin! It fell into a patch of moist soil by a big stone. "Oh no, I will spoil the cake," Jon said. He did not want to put his hand in the muck. He found a long stick and used it to hoist the coin from the soil. He pointed the clean coin at Mom. "I got it!" he yelled. Now they could bake the cake.
