1Dot the dog sat on the bus with her pals, Len and Jade. It was a long ride, so Dot had brought a snack.

2She had bought one huge doughnut at the shop, and she wanted to eat it with her pals. "I ought to get the most," said Len.

3"I did not eat lunch." "No, I ought to get the most," said Jade. "I asked first!" Len grabbed one side of the doughnut. Jade grabbed the other side.

4They fought and tugged, and the tugging got rough. Then the bus hit a bump, and the doughnut slipped out of their hands! Dot caught it just before it fell.

5"That is enough!" said Dot. Len and Jade sat back and felt bad. Dot thought it through. There was one doughnut, and there were three pals.

6She took a little knife from her lunch box and cut the doughnut in three. She gave one bit to Len and one bit to Jade, and she kept the last bit.

7Though each bit was small, it was enough. "This is the best doughnut," said Len with his mouth full.

8"We were naughty, Dot," said Jade. "Thank you for the snack." Dot grinned. Then Len made a funny face, and all three pals laughed for the rest of the ride.
