Read the free The Little Seed book first. Kate the squirrel plants a sunflower seed, waters it, watches it sprout and grow, and finds new seeds in the flower. Then color the life cycle together and cut and paste the stages in order.
Plants need sunlight, water, air and soil. The best way to see the cycle is to grow it: plant a bean in a clear cup with a wet paper towel and draw it on the bean journal over two weeks.
For the parts of a plant, see the parts of a plant page, and for pumpkins and apples, the pumpkins and apples unit.
