How it teaches

A sheet of finished cursive letters shows what a letter looks like, not how to write it. This workbook starts each letter at a numbered dot with an arrow for the first direction, and gives the words to say while writing it ("Swing up to the top line. Loop back and slide down.").

The four strokes: undercurve, downcurve, overcurve and slant line, a row of each to trace.
Lowercase, in five groups: letters that start the same way are learned together (i t u w, then e l b h f k, r s j p, a d g o c q, and n m x y z v). Every page has the letter alone, joined to letters already learned, and words.
Only known letters: the words on each page use only letters taught before it, so a child never meets a letter they have not practised.
Capitals: a page for each, with the capital and its lowercase letter, three names or places, and a sentence.
Practice: days of the week, the months, a page for the child's own name, and eight riddles to trace, copy, answer and draw.

The letters are traditional US school cursive, the same style as the free cursive sheets on this site. The file is yours to keep: print any page as often as you need.
