1Ted and Wes sat on a bench on the bus. It was a long trip. A big trunk sat at the back of the bus. Bang! Bonk! Ring! "What was that?" said Ted.

2"It is in the trunk," said Wes. "I think it is a thing with fangs!" Bang! Bonk! Ring! Ted and Wes clung to the bench. They did not want to look back.

3Then the bus stopped. A man, Hal, got up and went to the trunk. Ted and Wes hid as Hal opened the lid. In the trunk was an old clock. Its bell rang and rang.

4A long spring stuck out of its back. "It is just my old clock," said Hal. "It has no fangs. But it will not stop ringing!" Ted and Wes laughed. Then they sang with the clock.

About This Decodable Reader

“Ted and the Trunk” is a free printable decodable reader designed for kindergarten and 1st grade students practicing endings -ng and -nk phonics patterns.
