A frog changes form as it grows, through a process called metamorphosis. Here is what happens at each labeled part of the diagram:

StageWhat it does
EggsA jelly-like clump of eggs (frogspawn) is laid in the water.
TadpoleThe eggs hatch into tadpoles that swim and breathe with gills.
FrogletThe tadpole grows legs and lungs but still has a tail.
Adult frogThe tail disappears and the adult frog can live on land, ready to lay new eggs.
